Review of The Black Cauldron (1985) by Steven P — 13 Jan 2010
This was the beginning of animation being seen as a big budget item, as it was filmed semi-digitally, had CGI, and finally had lightning effects that sounded better than Castle Thunder. However, as the books this movie got its inspiration from were the yang to the Narnia Chronicles' yin, this was also the start of watered-down Disney films.
Suffering from having a third of its runtime cut, there are only two or three moments where character and plot actually developed. And one of them is a bard standing behind a bush, waiting for a princess to sew his pants.
