Review of The Black Cauldron (1985) by Roy C — 30 May 2010
This was Disney's attempt at reclaiming the Animation throne in 1985. They spent millions adapting The Chronicles of Prydain but where they fail is compacting several books into one film. The tone is also much too dark for their target audience. The story of a young pig keeper who yearns to be a warrior is a sloppy one and the main villain The Horned King doesn't do much more than sit around.
For being one of the most expensive animated films of its time, there are some great visuals, but it also contains its fair share of poorly rendered art.
