Review of The Black Belly of the Tarantula (1971) by Al M — 09 Jun 2012
A solid and somewhat stylish giallo that doesn't quite rank with the best examples of the form, Black Belly of the Tarantula concerns a killer who mimics a certain kind of wasp that paralyzes its victims with poison and forces them to watch as they are killed.
Competent direction, a Morricone score, and appearances from giallo favorites make this a must-see for fans of the genre, but it certainly pales in comparison to some of the better examples.
