Review of The Black Balloon (2008) by Marcel D — 07 Apr 2010
An Aussie film that feels like it was ripped straight from someone's real life experience (and it kinda is.).
The Black Balloon is a coming of age flick about family and first loves and having a brother with autism get in the way. Set in the early 90s, giving rise to some relatable childhood comedy about SNES and such, The Black Balloon is a endearing suburban drama that is light enought to make you laugh and heavy enough to get you teary at the finale.
Very satisfying Australian flick, brilliant performances all round, from the youngin's to the more experienced like Toni Collette and Erik Thomson. Check it out.
