Review of The Bishop's Wife (1947) by Kim B — 22 Sep 2018
Its fairly outdated and at times it drags but at the heart of it is a great message about living in the moment and remembering whats important in your life. Its a Christmas tale about a bishop who has lost his way becoming a workaholic who compromises his values and family time for more money from his patrons.
An angel helps guide him back on the righteous path by performing small miracles but the angel finds himself becoming too attached to his wife and wishing for a human life by the end. At this point the angel must leave and everyone goes back to their old life, but the angel who you feel bad for.
Cary Grant was casted perfectly as the smooth and charming angel. Love the one line in this about too many ppl who dont know where theyre going but they want to get there too fast-even more true today.
Not really a Christmas classic in my eyes but it was a worthwhile watch one time.
