Review of The Birth of a Nation (2016) by Tony L — 12 Feb 2017

I think the timing of this movie is bad. There have been so many movies focusing on the atrocities of slavery that the shock value is gone. I was surprised by this story. There were a lot of things I did not know.

I question the historical accuracy of little details. The main issue for me is the editing. This movie drags on. The script could have told this story much better. It is a noble effort but it did not do well for substance as well as lack of theaters showing it.
