Review of The Birth of a Nation (2016) by Jeanna C — 10 Oct 2016
As an African American female, watching this true story saddened me greatly because it reminded me of the bondage and persecution my ancestors in endured. It is a very timely movie. It's themes are reflective of current times.
As a people, while we are no longer slaves, we continued to be viewed as less than equals by our white counterparts. We should forgive, but none should forget, the oppression that was inflicted upon us.
I hope all will learn from watching this movie; cruelty, murder, and vengeance is not the answer. We are all one people under God.
