Review of The Birth of a Nation (2016) by James O — 10 Oct 2016
Poorly directed, uninspired acting made this a slave film that was remarkably flat, unemotional and fairly dour at times. Some of the scenes were really cliche and it was really difficult to actually care about any of the characters.
Will obviously be compared to 12 years a slave but doesn't even come close. Big fail here. Real Oscar bait of a theme but poorly put together. Parker needs to improve both his acting and directing.
