Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Julia A — 16 Dec 2008
[font=Times New Roman][size=3]Birth of a Nation was a breathtaking cinematic experience for audiences in 1915. D.W. Griffith made what is regarded by most film historians as the first feature length film (a film longer than two hours). The movie stunned audiences with its exciting battle scenes, beautiful scenery, romanticism, and most of all, compared to previous films, its complex narrative. It was probably the first historical epic in film history. It told the story of some of the darkest years of American history that were still vivid in the minds of many Americans in that time. While it is the most overtly bias and overtly racist film ever made, it is still a major turnning point in film history.
