Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Private U — 01 Aug 2009
This film is such an issue. Stunningly brilliant influential film making with a racist viewpoint. however, I view it as a product of its time. How can you blame people individually for the mindset of a nation? You cannot retrospectively apply the morals of one age to another.
Some of the PC rewritting on this film has been disgusting. America will forever have a stain on its soul despite all it has created. I think this film will stand as a symbol of that division.
