Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Steve W — 08 Sep 2009
Quite possibly the most dated, and most racist movie of all time. The director skews history and turns a racist play into a 3 hour civil war epic, complete with blackfaced actors who are despicable rapist and power hungry politicians.
The movie is also too long, and only worth it for the civil war battle scene and maybe the Lincoln assassination. Unintentionally hilarious at time, The Birth of a Nation does not stand up to the test of time.
Intolerance was superior in almost every way.
