Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Adam K — 29 Mar 2009
Although the story was somewhat uninteresting to me and it is very obviously racist, this movie is undeniabley one of the most important in the history of film. It must be viewed with the eyes of someone in 1915.
As the first "feature-length" film ever, it sets precedents and new techniques that every film after it has used. More like the birth of filmmaking than of a nation.
