Review of The Bigamist (1953) by Bob V — 06 Dec 2010
Fun little B-movie which should be hella exploitive, but it really is not. It's actually, believe it or not, more film-noirish then anything else. Edmund O'Brien plays the title character, and yes, he's got two lives and wives, the smart but somewhat dumb Ida Lupino, and the cold but somewhat dumb Joan Fontaine.
Both love the lug, and he loves both of them! Oh no! Things don't go to well when Fontaine and O'Brien want to adopt a kid, and the agency snoops around. Then it goes to flashback land to reveal's O'Brien's quite believable story.
Amazingly directed by Lupino, this should be a must see, as you don't really get a lot of movies like this starring and directed at the same time by a woman. Great movie!
