Review of The Big Year (2011) by Joel C — 31 May 2012
Ranging from entirely disposable to egregiously inept to sickeningly saccharine, THE BIG YEAR (D) is one of 2011's monumental failures of nerve. Some attractive scenery and a resplendent montage set to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" can't make up for three hapless central performances, a shocking display of wasted supporting roles filled out by immensely talented actors and an overall listless subject matter that couldn't be less cinematic if it tried.
