Review of The Big Year (2011) by Jeffrey T — 17 Mar 2012
This wasn't as bad as the critics rated it, however it was only held up simply because it's all-star cast, including Huston and Rashida Jones. I also enjoyed Jack Black's different approach, similar to The Holiday, where he's collective and real.
Not loud and annoying. The whole plot line was original, however it didn't hold much depth. There was a lot of potential for this to be pretty hilarious and it just wasn't. It had more of a human element to it then a comedic touch, which we all expect when you have Black, Wilson, and the brilliant Steve Martin.
Sub par writing kept this from being a classic.
