Review of The Big Year (2011) by Wave C — 30 Jul 2012
If you want a laugh-out-loud comedy then this is not the movie for you; However, it is great to see the return of many stars that we have come to love, in roles that are not forceful slapstick or over-the-top annoying jokes.
This is a very subtle dramedy about trying to be the best bird watcher in the world. For some odd reason either the concept, the PR for advertising and promoting the film mislead the audience into thinking The Big Year is strictly comedy.
But rather it has elements of humor and lighthearted feel, and touches base with reality. Each bird enthusiasted takes you on an adventure and also their struggles in life. The message is this: "Each person is searching for something in life, and no body is perfect.
Success doesn't come easily only to the few who want it badly enough.".
