Review of The Big Year (2011) by Adriano B — 08 Jun 2013
A strange beast, firmly inviting you to misunderstanding and self-dismissal: it's family entertainment of the oldest, children-safe TV, school, but outrageosly camoflaged, better than a callous birdwatcher may do; it uses three talented comical american actors, a bizarre theme and a story about a no-quarter competition, larger than life obsession about what normal people believe to be minutiae.
.. the kind of flick making you wating from the obvious dark humoured twist on the story, and it leaves you there till the end, waiting, giving you a lesson on morale instead the expected bloodbath. It's not really bad, but you cannot avoid to feel like something went wasted.
.. but to waste really is what birds do best, after all.
