Big White, The.

Drama (comedy).

2005.

Rated: R.

Running Time: 100 minutes.

Starring: Robin Williams, Holly Hunter, Giovanni Ribisi, Tim Blake Nelson, Woody Harrelson, and Alison Lohman.

Directed by: Mark Mylod.

Rating: 6 out of 10.

Outline.

Paul Barnell (Williams) is a struggling small business owner on the verge of losing his business. He needs money now and the only way he can think of getting it is to try and cash in his missing brothers million-dollar life insurance policy. He has no luck until one day he discovers a corpse in the dumpster outside of his work. He decides to scam the insurance company with the corpse but little does he know it belongs to two bumbling hit men. Coupled that with a tight insurance agent Ted (Ribisi) and it might be harder to get the money then he ever could have imagined.

Review.

This is filmed in a very dark comedy style and worked on many levels for me. The comedy was sometimes subtle like the banter between the two hit men but also it was sometimes in your face like Margaret Barnell (Hunter). Paul?s wife suffered from Tourretes and although sometimes annoying is completely amusing through out this film. Ted the insurance salesman was also a great character for his hunches were always right but he never seemed to catch a break, which was a great addition to the movie. The story, which was a simple con movie kind of played second fiddle to all the dialogue and great character interactions. Throw in to good supporting roles from Lohman and Harrelson and this movie was a well-put together dramatic comedy. I gave it a six solely on the character?s developments through out the film. Watchers be warned though this is a hard movie to judge and it is one of those movies that a lot of people wont see eye to eye on. If your into darker style comedy I say check this out its worth a look.

T Factor + If you enjoyed the characters as much as I did then this movie could score higher on the rating scale.

T Factor ? If you couldn?t get into the character development then this movie could score lower on the rating scale.
