Review of The Big Sleep (1946) by Tara O — 24 Jul 2008
Possibly Bogart's finest work. The man exudes arrogant confidence in his role of the private detective but he does it with such a flair and style that everything is forgiven. Bacall is his female counterpart and is much of the same character.
The clash of two such personalities ineviatble leads to interesting conversations. The greatness of this movie should be measured vith an inclusion of supporting actors because they seamlessly performed their roles.
None of them appear to be out of touch. Plot is very tangled-up but don't let that stop you from viewing it. Verbal stoushes are worth alone of it.
