I m a lover of film-noir and classic Holyywood so obviously I wanted to watch this Bogie - Bacall flick.
It's a great film, crackling with dialogues and as Ebert mentions in his essay on the film - the dialogues of this film are priceless and witty, something modern crime films don't do too well.
The private dick Marlowe starts off on a case that seems like a simple case of blackmail but reveals itself to be infintely complex. Through it all, there is the chemistry between Bogie and Bacall sparking throughout - especially the dialogues on horses and riding, where the chemistry jumps off the screen and the two characters seem to find their match. I love the easy banter of characters in Classic Hollywood films; I wish there was more of this teasing and taunting in today's films.
