Review of The Big Sleep (1946) by Nate W — 25 Oct 2008
Howard Hawks' film noir "The Big Sleep" is a complex murder mystery with healthy doses of heart-stopping thrills and sexual tension. Humphrey Bogart is captivating (as always) as the ear-tugging sleuth Philip Marlow, and Lauren Bacall really sizzles with him on screen.
The plot is rather convoluted, but Hawks keeps the film engaging throughout.
