Review of The Big Sleep (1946) by Chris Z — 05 Sep 2009
Another of the great noirs based on Raymond Chandler's private detective Philip Marlowe, in which Humphrey Bogart plays Marlowe and Lauren Bacall plays the daughter of Marlowe's wealthy client.
Bogart's Marlowe is better than any, the snappy noir dialogue in this film--particularly that between Bogart and Bacall--is excellent, and the atmosphere of the film is quintessentially noir.
