Review of The Big Sick (2017) by Jsands7 — 02 Jan 2018

Perhaps my expectations were simply too high; but this film really didn't blow me away. It is on the line between "fine" and "pretty good", but I am settling on a 7/10. Sure, it is a charming little film and the characters are likeable, but that doesn't really add up to an amazing film.

As a comedy, it isn't particularly laugh out loud funny. There are a few one-liners you'll smile or maybe even get a laugh or two out of. As a drama, it isn't particularly gripping (perhaps because we know that it is going to be a happy ending so you don't have to worry about something tragic happening).

I wouldn't discourage anybody from watching it, but I don't think I'll remember it much in a year... or a month.
