Review of The Big Sick (2017) by Cliff J — 06 Aug 2017
No wonder everybody loved this movie! It's simple and charming, but - more importantly - Nanjiani knows that great comedy comes from storytelling more than punchlines. The characters all feel real (maybe because they are?), and the scenes feel real as a result.
From a great cast to a cultural conflict that managed to be both funny and thoughtful, you couldn't help but care and laugh simultaneously. If all romantic comedies were like this, I would see more of them.
