One minute I'm laughing and the next minute I'm crying and in a few seconds in between I'm doing both at the same time and the transition of comedy to tear jerking drama isn't at all awkward, and that requires some damn good writing AND acting AND.
Directing AND editing to do so and this movie did it pretty much flawlessly! This is by far one of the best all round movies I have seen in a very, very long time and is a more than perfect way to not only establish Kumail Nanjiani's skills to be able to make movies and capability to play a leading character, but is also a very welcoming comeback for Ray Romano to the silver screen. It has also got wonderful performances from Zoe Kazan and Holly Hunter. The Big Sick is not only one of the best dramedies of the year, but quite possibly one of the best dramedies of the twenty first century! And just to top things off, the credits are only like a minute long. This is definitely currently my favourite movie! Judd Apatow and Apatow productions does it again! Bravo!
