Review of The Big Short (2015) by Iseenthefuture — 08 Jan 2016
There are some of us outside the bubble that feel, and don't count, our existence, albeit raw and fisceral. That is the undertone herein and should have been left undiluted by Gosling's retrofitted 'coolness'.
Therein lies the very, very close miss that this movie should've hit hard. Also Christian Bale missed the mark with his laboured attempt at Aspergers type genius, instead he gave us uncompromised study of a dumb stoner in a bad wig(think Garth in Wayne's World).
So apart from Bale being totally miscast for or misinterpreting one of the leading roles and Gosling being a strapped on appendage that was completely counter to the entire movie's themes, it was a really good story and gripping from the start as the audience know the stakes and costs are far higher than even the main big brains herein could possibly see.
