Review of The Big Short (2015) by Brendan H — 04 Jul 2017
Polished Hollywood Movie that works very hard to paint banks as the housing crash villains, ignoring the more fascinating and hotly-debated role of government policies (deregulation of financial markets + tacit encouragement of risky loans).
I'm not a banker and I'm not a political guy, but I know enough about the housing crash that I'm saddened to see so many people treating this half-true movie like it's all they need to know.
There's a much more interesting story to tell about this era than "banks are evil.".
