Review of The Big Picture (1989) by Scot C — 15 Nov 2010
"I don't know you. I don't know your work. But I think you are a genius. And I am never wrong about that".
A young hopefull going to Hollywood for the first time, well that will always be a concept full of potential. A young Kevin Bacon shows a lot of potential as well, and in my opinion he is very well cast and gives a good performance. There is a surprising cameo from John Cleese, which is a great surprise. Martin Short and Jennifer Jason-Leigh give very strong and appealing performances as well. This film gives a great look and a good indication of what LA is about, specially through the eyes of a filmmaker. Honestly, its not appealing at all. As an actor myself, the work would be the only draw card. For the story, the plot is weak and so much more coud have beeen done with it. This film could have been more engaging if the lead character had more to fight against. But it is a good watch, and dont let Teri Hatcher's hair style freak you out!
