Review of The Big Lift (1950) by Joshua G — 21 Nov 2007
"If they can take off when the birds won't even fly then I guess a blockade isn't much of a weapon." Filmed on location in war-torn Germany, this film offers an unprecedented view of the carnage wrought during the war, and that is 'The Big Lift's' best feature.
The characters aren't traditional cookie-cutter Air Force heroes but people with their own issues who do grow throughout the movie. The majority of the military personnel are playing themselves, which adds realism to their scenes.
Still, the movie just plods slowly, losing your attention along the way.
