Review of The Big Lebowski (1998) by James K — 08 May 2013
The quintessential stoner flick, 'The Big Lebowski' is a clever, smartly written comedy that runs the gamut from silly to serious to just plain weird. The performances are uniformly terrific; the plot an inspired take on the crime caper.
Yet for all its goofiness, the film still manages to hit on some sobering dramatic notes. That the Coens' manage to put it all together into one cohesive but singular picture is a testament to their skill and creativity.
