Review of The Big Kahuna (1999) by Jim P — 29 Nov 2014
If one looks at 'The Big Kahuna' as fully fledged production, it would probably not be well received. However as an indie movie, it is probably one the best character studies you would see. The film consists of literally just 3 characters played by Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito and Peter Facinelli.
This time around Spacey is a much more charismatic actor and is a delight to watch on screen and although he didn't have punch lines, the extreme sense of sarcasm in his character keeps the movie going without a moment of boredom. Danny DeVito on the other hand changes up his style too with a darker and much more mature character and plays it to perfection. The movie is very very dialogue oriented and don't expect to see much of action at all. However, the content the 3 of them go throughout the movie touches upon so many problems all ages would understand and sympathize to. An incredible movie to watch for the more serious viewers out there.
Also the ending narration is just a few minutes of pure genius.
