Review of The Big Doll House (1971) by Terryll L — 19 Apr 2010
Filmmaker Jack Hill's first kick a the 'women in prison' genre which he helped define with both this film and 'The Big Bird Cage' the following year. What I liked about this film compared to other women in chains movies was that the brutality towards the women was kept at a minimum and it was more about their strength and perseverance.
As usual Sig Haig and Pam Grier are solid and Roberta Collins and Judy Brown are really solid and the power of the movie. Pam also sings the great track 'Long-Time Women' for the film as well.
Best Scene: can't really pick one, but Sid's first one is pretty solid same and so is the jail break scene.
