Review of The Big Clock (1948) by Darren D — 30 Apr 2010
Film noir was just made for black and white with lots of dark shadows and lugubrious settings which perfectly suit this film set in a New York publishing empire. If you've seen the remake - No Way Out - you'll know the gist of the story: A man has to investigate a murder in which he has been set up to take the fall in order to cover up the evil malfeasance of others.
Taut dialogue, a claustrophobic setting and well-paced suspense make this an absolute classic.
