Review of The Big Clock (1948) by Anastasia B — 20 Dec 2010
Wild film noir about a detective magazine editor investigating a murder of a woman he didn't commit. Wait, what? Yes, and that his boss did it, but the boss doesn't know the editor knows that though.
Wait, what? This is pretty wild, damn entertaining, and kept me engrossed. Ray Milland is fine as the editor trying to piece it all together, and Charles Laughton, generally someone I don't care much about, plays the publisher with just amount of smarm and sleaze to be immediately hated (plus, having one of the world's worst mustaches ever put to film doesnt help) over all, great fun.
