Review of The BFG (2016) by Dave R — 11 Jul 2016
I never did read this book, and knew nothing about this story before watching this film, but I have to say I was pretty bored during the movie. I like the idea and what it was trying to do, but I actually think the giant is mis-cast by recent award winner Mark Rylance, as he just didn't bring it home for me.
Also, the little girl just did very little to get me to care for her at all, and since 95% of the scenes in the movie have the two of them, you have a letdown movie for me. The 'look at my phone to see what time it is' is a good barometer for if you like a movie, and I look at my phone about a half dozen times.
There are a couple of sweet moments, but just not enough for me to give this a recommendation to see.
