Review of The BFG (1990) by Dan F — 12 Aug 2012
If Moebius directed children's nightmares, they'd be like this. I didn't see this until I was an adult, and I found it cruel and unsettling, and largely humourless. And to be fair, Dahl is darkly comic.
The animation is similar to Cosgrove Hall's tv work- charming for 5 minutes of Dangermouse but not engaging enough for a full feature. I hope one day Ghibli pick it up, because it's the right sort of material for them.
