Review of The BFG (1990) by Alan Torres Dwyer B — 11 Jan 2013

This wonderful family fantasy film is often ignored even by fans of the original book, and it's about time people started looking at this great example of british animation more often. The acting is top-notch, the story is well-paced and charming, the designs are frighteningly cute (both ends of the spectrum appear), the animation is beautiful, the music is entrancing and, overall, it's a wonderful, wonderful movie. It's also a very decent adaptation of the original book. In fact, it's one of the only Roald Dahl-based movies that Mr. Dahl himself liked, even clapping at the end. So, I give this lovely, albeit underrated, movie 5 gold stars!
