Review of The Beyond (2018) by Gandalfsucks — 25 Aug 2018
Utterly lacking of imagination, horribly acted, visually workable piece of trash. I'm not gonna knock on the CGI, given the obvious capital limitations, but well thought out logical science fiction is not that difficult to do.
If the writer had consulted anyone with a degree in science this might have been a plucky piece of sci-fi. Instead it ends up being a total waste of time. The lack of imagination is shocking to say the least, space agency is called "The Space Agency", cyborg is called "Human 2.
0", university is called "University of Astrophysics", etc, etc. Science sounding words are thrown around without any basic understanding, eg. I guarantee you the word telemetry doesn't mean what the writer thinks it does.
Film students on a semester project do a better job than this. Forget the acting, the actors were probably the director's neighbours or something similar. The message of the whole thing is self-absorbed human ego and absolutely nothing else.
