Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Amber R — 27 Jun 2007
I did a semester long research project on WWII films from 1945-1975 and this was the only film that tried to tackle the return of veterans to society. It is slow. But it offers some of the finest acting and deals with the issues that no one ever wants to talk about after war.
It is a wonderful warm picture for anyone who can believe in happy endings.
