Review of The Best Offer (2013) by Carlo C — 17 Jan 2013
First of all an advice if you want to watch this movie: go to the cinema or watch it at the television without knowing anything of it, so avoid any review (mine as well, so drop the reading or I'll not be responsible for any spoiler effect :D) or any trailer. Just go and watch it, because, sometimes, knowledge is not requested.
Given that, I found it amazing, a true masterpiece of Tornatore, that when works with good ideas and casts, and doesn't try to show off his sicilianity to an extreme, 90 out of 100 makes magic.
When in the end you realize what you just saw, you start to wonder if there were some signs of it, put here and there by the director to give you some clues. Well...I actually just thought of 1 or 2, but they were so nicely hidden, to appear almost impossible to recognize.
I don't agree with what a friend of mine wrote, that there are too many things that can bewilder you. Maybe there was something more than usual, but was compulsory, or complementary, to the story, and was right to show it.
