It was a wonderful love story that he could of still had when they were both in high school but his father had to mess it up by him protecting his girl from getting hurt from his father which made them break up because he knew if he stayed with her she would get hurt but his father but then he got older and learned how to show his father that he can't control him no more which worked for 20yrs later till they run into him again and then he tried to get the girl back that was his high school love and when he did it was amazing true love and happy till his father was out to kill him so he had to show her that he ain't leaving her no matter what this time and at the end his father shot and killed him when he was with his girlfriend and he fought them till they pulled a gun on him and shot him and left the girl was terrificed to what happen and sad.

it showed to wife and husband love that last from high school till he died when he was older after 20yrs later. it shows infinite love and compassion to love someone no matter what.
