Review of The Best Man Holiday (2013) by Nigel A — 10 Dec 2013
Enjoyed this movie a lot. I heads a pod cast the other day movies with ridiculously long gaps in between their sequels. It mentioned some failures and highlighted this movie as a rare success.
I think one of the things that was creatively impressive, was that all of the actors from the original film were realistically tracked through life. While they all had certain characters, we were able to watch them in "real life" progress, or age, on film in the respective careers. So for them to return to their roles in this film years later, having spanned the actual timeframe (not sure exactly how precise) as the original movie, it kind of made the movie slightly more real. Definitely made it connect with the audience better, and I haven't even seen the entire first film.
Was very touching on some key parts. You experience joy, heartbreak, and reconciliation with the characters throughout the film. Definitely for adults in my opinion, but some good lessons in it. Great film.
