Review of The Best Man (1999) by David G — 15 Nov 2013
Decent romantic comedy. There are a few cliches here and there, but overall the movie was pretty well made and somewhat original. Throughout the movie they have flashbacks to the friend's college years which threw off the pace of the movie a bit, but I thought it was at least better than having nothing but slow back-story dialogue. The performances are pretty good and Terrance Howard is the obvious standout putting on a great performance as a character named Quinton who is sort of the odd one of the bunch who can't figure out what he wants to do with his life while his friends have lots of success.
I watched this because the sequel is coming out soon. I liked this one, but I thought it could have been quite a bit better. I have my fingers crossed for the sequel possibly being one of those sequels that are better than the first one but I probably shouldn't hold my breath.
