Review of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) by Alan W — 24 Nov 2012

Saw this in-flight (1 of 2 and half films - the half was a predictable HK film (naming and shaming it: Fairy Tale Killers) that was shredded to pieces and feel like Seven without all the money-shot death scenes so I gave up and switched off) and it is as sentimental, episodic and (mostly) uncontroversial as expected.

But it is also charmingly performed by the ensemble - always nice to see character actors (and Dench and Smith) get to show off their chops - and while the narrative is too tidily wrapped up, there are one or two surprises that keep one's interests perked.

Would've been 2.5 if I had paid in a cinema but seeing that I didnt...
