Review of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) by Dana F — 04 Nov 2013
Weak sauce. If this movie didn't boast a ton of respected British actors, nobody would give it any consideration at all. It's trite and predictable and way too long. It does have a good amount of heart behind it, but it's mostly a credit to the actors that I cared about any of their characters at all.
The film consists of multiple interwoven storylines about all the characters, but the telling of each person's story is disjointed so that the film doesn't flow very well. On top of that, most of the characters' stories are contrived.
This movie just didn't grab me the way it clearly intended to. It starts out strong but quickly dissolves into a boring fluff of a movie.
