Review of The Belko Experiment (2017) by Isaiah S. F — 24 Mar 2017
:::Review might contain spoilers:::
As a fan of Battle Royale and a good satire... I went into The Belko Experiement with semi- high hopes. From the gate of the film, I made a small connections with a few key characters. As the film progressed, I felt for some of these workers... especially connecting the themes of hierarchy in the work place (something I felt like the film could have worked on making stronger.). It was also interesting seeing four white men band together to ultimately make the decisions of the film (if that was the filmmakers intentions or not). Halfway through the film, the writers dropped the ball. It became more about bloodshed and getting to the end instead of fully realizing that they had a message that could have made more clear... The jungle that is work and how we try to survive in the work environment. Towards the end of the film, And killing of characters I cared about... I didn't care for the last remaining characters. I felt angry that the film could have been much more. Even though my anger overshadowed the enjoyment I had towards the beginning of the film, I would suggest watching this film... but on Netflix on a night when you can't decide what to watch.
