Review of The Believer (2001) by James K — 27 Feb 2011
It's hard not to compare this to American History X, and whilst the finished product isn't as polished, or the themes as universal, on the plus side Gosling is a less Actorly Actor than Norton, and it finds an unusual angle to approach neo-nazism from.
It's a good showpiece for what Ryan Gosling's capable of, and rises above the sometimes made-for-tv air it has to engage the viewer and confront them with questions about spirituality and belief.
