Review of The Being (1983) by Markus K — 30 May 2010
I gotta give this one 2 stars instead of just half, for a few good reasons.
1) Synthetizer score, that sound mix between Xtro and Tombs of the Blind Dead (not a bad combo).
2) Martin Landau, who must be really "proud" being here, at the low point of his career.
3) Rexx Coltrane, man who gives Keanu Reeves and Robert Pattison run for their money, when it comes to "most wooden actor" title. And he wins it!
4) Monster/3rd grade art project looks funny.
And.
5) Director/Writer Jackie Kong, who actually goes on showing faces of the actors at the end, their names displayed at the same time à la Dirty Dozen. And their even give short descriptions of what happened to characters after the movie. Oh, it's so cute, she actually thinks that we give a shit.
To be honest, maybe she knew what she was making, and those epitah's at the end are some sort of "spoofs", but I really doubt it. But at the some points, I actually liked the whole 80's feel of the movie. But those moments were far and a few.
See it, and you can say you've seen a z-class horror movie, true 80's crapfest.
