Review of The Beguiled (2017) by Jim J — 04 Aug 2017
Not even acknowledging the very existence of the original version of this feature, a successful trailer and high reviews urged me to see this film, and after the showing I came out feeling glad I persuaded myself to see this.
Even though the audience score is much lower than the critics score I very much enjoyed this - certain a considerable amount more than I was expecting.
Spectacular performances from the large amount of the cast especially Kidman and Dunst, and of course Farrell - but you expect no different from him. And also a solid performance by Fanning despite her still being very much in her early acting days.
A film which seemingly average taken from audience certainly provided a very strong watch, and a solid story line which was certainly unpredictable and a script to match.
With the addition of a ending certainly surprisingly and sadistic comparing to the calm and bliss start to the feature equalled up to a applaudable mix of drama and thriller and a surprising cinematic experience joy.
Final verdict - 8.1/10 or A-.
