Review of The Beguiled (1971) by Charlie R — 23 Mar 2008
An unusually dark film for Eastwood. This intense, sexual gothic story is magnificent. Eastwood, playing against type as a manipulative, lying S.O.B. Siegel said this was the favorite of his films and I think he was correct.
He could create amazing action sequences, but his cool, calculated direction is too much to handle at times.
